Two Parents Launch Pandemic-Inspired Business and Hit Kickstarter Goal in 8 Minutes

Dec 1, 2020

Overcoming pandemic-parenting challenges and finding creative solutions for kids Madison, WI - December 2, 2020 - (Newswire.com) Two Madison-area parents recently joined forces to co-found Shenanigan Kids, a company that makes padded playsets for kids of all ages. The company's first product, The Figgy ($299), began its kickstarter campaign on November 19 and hit its goal in a record 8 minutes. The idea for The Figgy came to Rachel Neill, a working mother of five and successful entrepreneur, during the pandemic when she couldn't find quality products that would keep her kids' attention. "As a busy, working mom, trying to manage small kids during a pandemic has been challenging," said Neill. "I was in need of something that would entertain them, keep my house intact, and would be easy to put away. I couldn't find what I was looking for, so I decided to come up with something on my own," she said. Neill partnered with long-time friend, Chris Roepe, to help design and engineer The Figgy. Roepe's experience in supply chain, engineering, retail, and tech at some of the top companies in the nation made him the perfect business partner to make Neill's vision a reality that families across the U.S. could benefit from. Roepe is also the father to two children, making him even more intrigued in Neill's vision. "As a parent who spends time talking to a lot of other parents, I knew Rachel's idea was a winner," Roepe said. "The Figgy helps spark our kids' imaginations, while also making life easier on us. It's a great alternative to screen time, is very versatile, uses up a lot of kids' energy, looks good in just about any room, and the list goes on. I am thrilled to be one step closer to getting The Figgy out to parents across Wisconsin and beyond," he said. The Figgy consists of four CertiPur foam pieces - two large, double-stacked squares and two rectangular bolsters. Kids can configure the Figgy pieces to become just about anything their imagination can dream of - a pirate ship, a jungle fort, or just a comfy spot to relax. The Figgy's Kickstarter campaign launched on Nov. 19, 2020. Obie Announces Support for Slack Enterprise Grid (SEG), Accelerating Knowledge Exchange for Large Teams

Dec 1, 2020

The company introduces numerous product enhancements that accelerate and improve Slack powered workflows within IT/ITSM, Customer Support & Success, Sales, Engineering, and Product teams. SAN JOSE, Calif. - December 2, 2020 - (Newswire.com) Obie, a knowledge base software and support accelerator, today announces the launch of three enterprise-focused enhancements to its knowledge management platform, with the purpose of facilitating easy and powerful knowledge sharing across teams using Slack. First, Obie is introducing seamless compatibility with Slack Enterprise Grid (SEG), a solution for larger organizations that brings multiple interconnected workspaces together. SEG is used to manage the security and governance functionality required in such complex structures. With the launch of SEG-compatibility, Obie helps enterprise customers capture, access and share internal knowledge in accordance with their complex permissioning needs. Second, Obie is improving upon the FAQ knowledge base with enterprise-ready permissioning management. This means delivering a dedicated FAQ knowledge format with the needs of enterprises that communicate and collaborate over Slack. Obie FAQ now allows for granular permission structures that enable Slack Groups and Slack Channels to give enterprises more control over how knowledge flows through their organization. Third, the company is launching a major version upgrade (5.0) to its core search algorithm, with the aim of driving greater speed for enterprise-level support applications. This also brings improved search results with less bias than before. Obie’s search product provides organizations with a single source of truth to access knowledge across platforms where work gets done, including Slack and the browser (via an extension).  Since the start of the pandemic, Slack has seen over 12.5 million active daily users, and its growth shows no signs of stopping. But as the platform becomes the operating system of the modern workplace, including for enterprises and complex organizations, the challenge of seamless information exchange emerges. To make knowledge accessible in the fastest way possible, Obie now aims to easily integrate within this structure and deliver results without additional difficulties. “As large enterprises continue to adopt workplace communication platforms like Slack, they have an increased need to pull data from knowledge silos and deliver it where people work,” says Chris Buttenham, Founder and CEO of Obie. “We’re thrilled to officially support Slack Enterprise Grid workspaces and further our compatibility for large organizations that need unique controls over their collective knowledge in a modern system like Obie.” About Obie On a mission to make knowledge universally accessible at work, Obie leverages AI to capture knowledge from silos and deliver answers where questions are asked. Obie customers, such as Cvent, Unity, and Woolworths, have asked over 500,000 questions through their products since launching in 2017. zavvie Launches First-Ever Seller Preferences Report

Dec 1, 2020

New quarterly study looks at iBuyer, bridge solution trends BOULDER, Colo. - December 2, 2020 - (Newswire.com) Real estate is red hot, but how have iBuyers fared in the last quarter? Has their average time to close a transaction gone up or down? Are iBuyers seeing more or fewer offers being accepted by homeowners? And how are the new buy-before-you-sell bridge providers doing? All of these questions — and more — are answered in the first-ever zavvie Seller Preferences Report created and released today by zavvie, the first end-to-end real estate brokerage platform encompassing all selling solutions. “As more homeowners think about selling their homes within the next year, many won’t — because they are nervous about how to do it because of COVID, scarce inventory, and general uncertainty,” said Lane Hornung, zavvie co-founder and CEO. “Our new report provides all the details.” The zavvie Seller Preferences Report is the first quarterly review of its kind for all the selling solutions available to homeowners throughout the U.S. The new report looks specifically at the relaunch of national iBuyers in all their pre-COVID markets and the increasing influence of bridge solutions in the marketplace. The quarterly report features a new nationwide map that shows where leading iBuyer and bridge solution providers operate, market activity and volume, time to close and concessions stats, and offer acceptance trends. The zavvie Seller Preferences Report highlights: iBuyer purchase volumes for Q3 were 82 percent lower compared to last year. While iBuyer buy boxes haven’t formally changed, they are expanding to include condos, higher-priced homes (in some cases, seven figures), older homes, and more eclectic housing. iBuyers’ offer strength is down 3.1 percent, as collectively, they have been purchasing homes at 95.5 percent of market value across all markets, compared to their 2019 comparable average of 98.6 percent. Offer acceptance rate for iBuyers is up slightly (0.5 percent) to 4.7 percent, up from 4.2 percent in 2019. Bridge solutions are on fire, as consumer acceptance of bridge buy-before-you-sell offers are roughly 4X that of instant offers from iBuyers. Time to close — the number of days that start when a seller first contacted an iBuyer to request an offer until the closing occurred — is up 4.8 days in Q3 to 49.4 days versus 44.7 days in 2019. The debut of the new zavvie report is important, Hornung explains, because sellers have more choices today than ever before. Still, homeowners often lack the information necessary to determine what option will be the best one for them right now. “This is another tool that will help empower the modern agent,” added Hornung, noting the recent launch of zavvie Pro. “The modern agent brings all of the selling options — iBuyer, bridge solutions, and an open market listing — to the table. “The modern agent does not fear what disruptors are doing. They co-op it because the modern agent is the trusted advisor who a consumer wants to help them fully understand all their choices, including the advantages and disadvantages of each.” The complete zavvie Seller Preferences Report is available for free at zavvie.com/seller-preferences. About zavvie zavvie is a technology company that empowers the modern agent by making it easy to provide all selling options: iBuyer, Bridge, and Open Market through our proprietary Offer Optimizer™ Suite. zavvie gives top brokerages and agents all they need to thrive in today’s evolving real estate landscape: easy to use tools, technology, training, marketing, and strategy. DAYTON, Ohio - December 2, 2020 - (Newswire.com) Allen Farst, founder of Niche Productions, is thrilled to announce the signing of a distribution deal with Gravitas Ventures, a Red Arrow Studios Company, to release his latest film, 'Chuck Leavell: The Tree Man,' a sterling documentary on the rock 'n' roll pianist/keyboardist often described as the "Fifth Rolling Stone." The film will be released to several Video-On-Demand (VOD) outlets on Dec. 2, 2020. Directed by Farst, "Chuck Leavell: The Tree Man" provides an epic, in-depth look into Leavell's life both on and off the stage. Leavell has played and toured with the Rolling Stones since 1982, and his status as rock royalty may be equaled only by his stature within the world of environmental forestry, where he previously has been named the National Tree Farmer of the Year in the United States. It's this fascinating combination of passions, coupled with more than 80 gripping interviews from legendary musicians with a combined 58 Grammy Awards, that already has produced quite the buzz for the film. The documentary captivated crowds recently at both the Macon Film Festival and Sedona International Film Festival, the latter of which recognized the film as the 2020 People's Choice Award. "This is a MUST-SEE film for anyone who loves great music and great documentaries," said Patrick Schweiss, Artistic Director of the Sedona International Film Festival. "Director Allen Farst has managed to capture the life of one of the great keyboard legends, Chuck Leavell, who has worked with all the greatest musicians…'The Tree Man' was a rousing hit at our festival, with audience members cheering and raving about the film!" "I've seen plenty of rock documentaries in my many years, and this one honestly is one of the best rockumentaries you'll ever see," said Ivor Levene of Goldmine Magazine. "Allen and I have been working on this for over three years now and I have to tip my hat to him. He's done a masterful job," Chuck Leavell. "Chuck's story is more than music. It's about life, love and the precious world we live in. The story is like a circle, the top 180 is his career in music. The bottom 180 is a mix of a love story and his life long work in forestry. You will laugh and cry at all of the right moments," said Director, Allen Farst. The documentary is full of star power with Billy Bob Thornton, Mick Jagger, President Jimmy Carter, Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, Bonnie Raitt, Dickey Betts, Paul Shaffer, Chris Robinson, Charlie Daniels, Miranda Lambert, Charlie Watts, Bruce Hornsby, Juliann Lennon, Mike Mills, John Bell, Pat Monahan, Ronnie Wood, Warren Haynes, John Mayer, David Gilmour and more. Data Recovery Services Provider Comments On The World's New Normal

Dec 1, 2020

December 02, 2020 - /PressAdvantage/ - Hard Drive Recovery Associates (HDRA), based in Irvine, California, recently published a new blog post: ‘What Will The New Normal Be Like?’ The company has taken the initiative to discuss this topic as the socio-economic situation worldwide has been greatly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The post begins with an acknowledgement of the world at present, stating that, “We are indeed living in some of the most interesting times. There have been some events in the history of the human race that have changed the way we live, that is true, but these happenings took years to effect drastic changes. Wars raged on for years before affecting the entire world, whole continents used to be spared from medical pandemics.” The post briefly discusses how many events in history changed humanity before moving on to the current situation, the pandemic. It also takes note of the fact that, once lockdowns and quarantine periods end, the world will have changed drastically from what it was only a few months ago. Many will find it both scary and exciting to face how much their way of life has changed by the time the pandemic has been brought under control by global governments. The data recovery company also acknowledges that the period the community is about to face will, “indeed be new and will be markedly different from how we used to do things in February.” The new normal, as pundits have coined the period post-COVID-19, is such a drastic event that it will undoubtedly go down in history books. The post also speculates how most may even define their lives as, “everything that happened pre-COVID and months from now, post-COVID.” This could be a positive or negative aspect. The post acknowledges certain benefits, commenting that, “The environment’s condition has improved, we now have a deeper appreciation for personal relationships and health has become a priority.” The negatives discussed include the fact that, “freedoms we used to take for granted, such as mobility and assembly, have been curtailed.” In short, the new normal has both advantages and drawbacks. The post then goes on to comment on the current lockdown situations that may represent the biggest aftereffects of the pandemic. The main question, the company muses, is whether people are ready for this new normal. HDRA uses this post to help make the community aware of what changes they should prepare for. When considering commerce and the nature of work, the post observes that the pandemic has not only changed the nature of business and the workplace but has also, “forced some of its facets to mature.” The pandemic has created a, “survival of the fittest scenario,” in the business world and the workplace, and what remains will not only survive but become the foundation of what will be the ‘new normal.’ The post acknowledges one major positive factor, however: the community realizing that pre-pandemic practices are now impractical. It goes on to elaborate, “After all, there’s really no need to constantly use the ATM and get cash, drive to a store to buy things and use your cash to pay for your purchases when you can have anything delivered to your house. Why waste an hour of two to commute to work when you can finish everything at home and even extend your work hours for an hour or two?” Post-pandemic habits and routines will have to be adapted to be more practical and efficient. The post then speculates that the conversation society should be having is not, “where we are going to work after the post-COVID dust settles, it should be how we are going to work.” In the ‘new normal,’ the health care sector must receive the spotlight. HDRA observes, “At the same time, the outbreak has brought to a halt many of the most lucrative parts of the industry, such as surgeries and procedures, threatening the financial futures of hospitals and leading to pay cuts and furloughs for workers.” An already busy and critical sector is now working above and beyond capacity to address the needs of their patients. The post also addresses caring for people with long term medical conditions. The effect on travel and tourism is also discussed in detail in this post. Law Software Developer Publishes Tips To Set Your Law Practice Apart From Competitors

Dec 1, 2020

December 02, 2020 - /PressAdvantage/ - The Atlanta-based CoCounselor, a legal practice management software provider, has published a new blog post, sharing tips on growing a law firm and handling clients in the best possible way. This is a competitive market, says CoCounselor, with an increasing number of lawyers. In this competitive space, several alternative sources of legal advice have surfaced. Additionally, people now have easy access to online legal counseling, making it effortless for them to compare one law firm against another based on expertise and affordability. “If your law firm isn’t able to adapt and grow, you risk falling behind in a marketplace that will continue to get more competitive. If you’re a smaller firm, you have an even bigger task at hand. You also have to compete with larger firms with seemingly endless budgets,” says the cloud-based practice management software solutions provider. The company adds that a practice management solution can make the task of a small law firm with limited resources easier, giving them the tools to successfully compete with larger firms. Creating an online offer that is simply irresistible and incomparable can help a small law firm compete well with the larger ones on the Internet, suggests CoCounselor, adding, “You have to make sure to create an offer they can’t refuse, even if it means testing thousands of offers to find the best one. After painstakingly tracking your offers, even if it takes years, you will eventually have an offer that will generate not only high-quality leads but revenue.” The blog post suggests that it is important to test offers that bring money, not leads. When an offer page works, it can be duplicated for use over and over and packaged in different offers. A cutting-edge legal practice management solution is designed to ensure proper documentation, which contributes to the smooth running of operations. Repeated tasks can be put on autopilot, so they continue unhindered. Optimization of business procedures saves time on tedious tasks and frees up funds needed for growth. This ensures that the firm can focus on more lucrative tasks. CoCounselor highlights the unique strengths of small firms as a startup that sets them apart from their bigger counterparts. Flexibility and the ability to personally connect with clients help give small law firms the advantage over large firms. “You aren’t tied down by a corporate structure that can slow down your growth. There won’t be much red tape or a chain of command to get in your way. This agility will allow you to compete because you’re still in the phase where you can fail fast and bounce right back,” adds the blog post. Customer service holds the key to blowing the big law firms out of the competition. Small firms have the advantage of connecting with clients on a personal level and wooing them with trust, empathy, and transparency. That’s why it’s important to calculate how much each new employee will cost and then calculate how much additional work is needed to pay for them long-term. The blog post highlights the importance of setting financial benchmarks before hiring a new employee. This is done to have concrete goals in advance. CoCounselor adds, “Seeing those numbers in black and white will give you concrete goals to work toward. If you run the numbers and aren’t comfortable with what you come up with, part-timers and even freelancers can help you until you are ready to move forward with a full-time employee. And, if you work with a part-timer or freelancer to begin with, they can easily be transitioned to a full-time role.” There are other important benchmarks that a law firm should set in advance. This includes an average fee per client, average cost to acquire a new client, average engagement rate, and the number of meetings scheduled for upcoming months. Unique quality content on a website can draw potential clients and set the law firm apart. A blog full of informative articles sets the law firm as an expert in the legal industry. When each piece of content ends with a prominent call to action, a website visitor knows what to do next, such as making a phone call or booking an online consultation. This should be a hassle-free process, so a potential client can easily connect and make a call with the legal firm. The need to outperform everyone online cannot be overlooked, states the blog post, adding, “Your law firm’s marketing needs to be a constant work in progress. You will never be ‘done’ with your online marketing.” CoCounselor advises reinvesting some of the revenue generated from marketing into future marketing efforts. Having a strong social media presence holds the key to spreading the word about a law firm. It is equally important to design, implement, and stick to a social media strategy that complements the business goals of the law firm. Policy Recommendations for Remote Education in the Bronx

Dec 1, 2020

How do we expect children to learn in a remote setting in a system that at its core has grave inequities that disadvantages Bronx youth? NEW YORK - December 1, 2020 - (Newswire.com) The Think Tank at The Thinkubator under the leadership of Dr. Lessie Branch released a policy brief on remote education in the Bronx. The report examines the inherent inequities and challenges of remote learning in the borough. In particular, it highlights the digital divide and lack of accessibility to technology that allows students to learn,  diversity and educators preparedness for teaching remotely, economic and food insecurity impact, and the social-emotional impact of COVID-19's sickness and death on students' learning. A key question for The Thinkubator is how do we expect children to learn in a remote setting in a system that at its core has grave inequities that disadvantages Bronx youth? These issues are critically important to address as the City of New York continues to contemplate how to address the impact of COVID-19. Recently, the mayor of the City of New York rescinded his previous policy position on the physical closure of public schools announcing that school buildings will reopen on Dec. 7 despite the increase in COVID-19 infections.   The Think Tank at The Thinkubator puts forth four policy positions that must been examined as New York City opens school buildings to those students that select to attend in person and those that attend remotely. 1) Upon reopening K-12 schools, establish precautions for COVID-19 virus escalation; 2) Operationalize access to at-home technology and instructional materials; 3) Facilitate individualized services for vulnerable student populations; 4) Develop systems to collect feedback from families and students. The report thoroughly outlines these policy positions. "Since I was a kid attending Bronx public schools in the 1980s radical education reform was needed in my community to address the grave inequities, this continues to be the same thirty plus years later," states Dr. Edward Summers, President and CEO, The Thinkubator.  A theme often associated with addressing inequities is the allocation of resources. Dr. Lessie Branch, Director of The Think Tank at The Thinkubator states that "resources are an excellent start! But resources in the absence of context or a plan for how they can be leveraged to gain maximum efficacy renders resources ineffective!" The Think Tank puts forth a plan that begins to address the inequalities that exist for Bronx students to fully participate in their learnings online. Of note, remote education is a moving target as COVID-19 ravages the United States and communities like the Bronx and leaders are forced to balance their responses to the demands and voices of parents and the safety concerns for students, teachers, and administrators. The Think Tank at The Thinkubator plans on updating policy briefs on this topic as it continues to evolve.
